Widest Know-How...
Productivity is a tough concept sometimes.  But know-how fixes things,
and productivity and ingenuity will always mean a surplus and an abundance.

__________

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs...

It's talked about everywhere.   Layoffs, closings and dependency. If it continues, as many know, it will reach a counterpoint of despair. If there are people with the know-how, or with an idle machine, or know of ways to acquire them, or work with them, they need to know certain things.
It's automation principles that inspires a Victory shop ......Victory system.  It's like the elder that says to his kid: "Get an education, get it in your hand."   Many people, after downloading  "Jigs and Gauges for Beginners" will "Get a lot in their hands that few souces of education will supply."

A locked mine...
For too many,  owning a shop full of machines is a short lived hobby, like owning a mine, and covering the entrance and never knowing its full potential.....

Two popular wood jigs....

The Minnie Cut
....Is only for making box joints, with CD   books, manuals.

The Mascut , read below, makes box joints and  is a duplication system, plus a LEXICON of Tech information on CD and more.

The Mascut  is a production devise.  It is a hand made,
precision gauged,  "duplication" device and instruction system.   Woodworkers use this unique jig to easily duplicate and standardize a uniformed, repeatable, consistent process for making things in volume. After using it, and watching the DVD, the owners begin to discover a whole new level of productive techniques which are the basis for automation.  (Jig making is probably the initial expertise which results in more and more efficiency: which can be called automation.)

~New and Improved~

It's for those with most their efforts invested into machines, or making things only by hand,  yet  wanting to do what engineers and jig makers do with machines.

The Mascut system results in a real grasp, and then a gradual system, so it's like buying the jigs and the tooling which the engineers developed for a production operation.  Companies don't often sell such things because their jigs and their gauges used in their machining and their assembly processes are considered their special tooling.

Widest Know-How
available anywhere....Read IMM too.

The MASCUT is the "Big - Get."   It makes box joints too.

Of course you do need at least a 10" table saw.  The Mascut is more like the initial  "Tooling" advancing to the next level beyond "hand made" and towards production.  It is not a device that anyone would make in large quantities and then provide through a supply store, or craft outlet.

wood jig.jpg (38073 bytes)

The Mascut actually becomes a mini machining operation.  In other words, it is difficult to buy the "tooling" of a production operation.  It is a unique  professional tool,  that goes beyond anything available.  That's especially because of the amount of self-explanatory technical expertise that is included in the books and on DVD.  That makes it a simple, precise, gauging system that is the answer to having to make any adjustments.  Adjustments take more time. Instead it employs various custom made, hand fitted, and some laser made gauges so that you have less parts to adjust once they are initially fitted.

______________

Deciding which wood joint to use is about the number one decision
before starting a project.  If you have no idea of which one to choose, you
often put off the whole project.  Here are a few ideas above.

_________________

Below is a Computer Controlled Laser Head
that is similar to a CNC  Router or Milling Machine. This type of
machine has been slowly replacing toolmakers and fixture builders.
This is needed in order to compete worldwide, but  most CNC machine
prices are way beyond the reach of a small shop.
Repair costs, and gas costs for this laser machine?  Sheew!!!

shop Laser 1902.jpg (6169 bytes)

So why is having a duplication method  so vital?  Skills are rapidly being
replaced by robots, CNC machines  and lasers.  What use to require skilled craftsmen to
perform the construction of tools, jigs, and fixtures has changed.   Now, many parts,
especially short runs needed at a moments notice, can now be done by a programmer and
 CNC machine.
The skills, and the actual meat and potatoes it takes to build a
mold, jig, or die, are going by the wayside, leaving a smaller
"reserve" of individuals with manufacturing knowledge.

What we need is more skilled people, not less.   In the furniture
industry the CNC router has already
made most bench work and manual
skills unnecessary.  This is fine and should be encouraged to
continue in order for industry to compete.
But, t
his has only put more of a
challenge on the new shop starting out.  There are inexpensive CNC machines
 on the market, but,
we still recommend a
MASCUT 1.0.  It is for the
shop with a limited budget or shop owner
who is resourceful,
and refuses to
give up searching for quick, accurate,  and consistent,
woodworking  production methods.

When we say the
MASCUT 1.0 is simple to learn we mean it!  Actually a CNC machine is simple to use, but there is much more baggage involved....codes, software, programming time etc.  Once the process is nailed down though, it is very fast from concept to delivery.   Our goal is  to get the MASCUT 1.0 into the hands of many more ambitious, capable "Small Industrialists".  Then when they learn the basics of production and become fascinated with producing things, they will have the knowledge and the confidence to grow into something bigger.

One college professor made the statement recently...
"If we don't make goods and provide services, there will
be nothing for the marketing people to sell, no money
for the finance people to count, nothing for the accountants
to audit, no people for the management people to manage,
and no economy for the economists to think they understand."

One American educator made the statement recently that really expresses our crucial need for information and education.

Young sales people, especially tool sales and industrial sales people really have it tough nowadays. Many in manufacturing, even many economists have a skeptical attitude about business growth. Many are down on everything, especially new or even improved business growth in a tough economy. That is why I built and delivered almost 150 woodworking devices, some of them,  (the Mascut 1.0) in particular is directly focused on teaching woodworkers how to mass produce things.  Also, available now is a new, free e-book called "The Northirst Student Overlooked." see below....

The solution taken many times is to re-school employees, but many employees find this overwhelming, and redundant.  The need for new techniques, technology, stronger standards, and serious fool proofing are just as important  for predictable  and consistent manufacturing output.

__________

With your table saw you can learn the elusive  processes, and techniques
necessary to make consistent, accurate, interchangeable parts.
Then, who knows?

It’s just a saw?
By

For almost half a century after the discovery of mass production methods,
many manufacturers had drawn out how production must be done. Regrettably, many were
determined to outlast the new world of highly accurate and capable machines. The old
school was highly dependent upon traditional hand methods of accuracy. These old
methods were indelible and permanent, and in many cases beyond remedy. They
slowly became obsolete in face of competition from the machine, jig and fixture makers,
and mechanical drawings.

The "New Techniques" were systematically crushing the old
methods mythically described as “hand made quality.” Machines, standards, and gauging
were consistent, accurate, and qualified to gain advantage over all traditional handy work
and craftsmanship. When machines came along, very few realized that they could
accurately locate parts, and gage them with the help of jigs  and fixtures. In some instances one man
and a single machine was replacing the output of  numerous highly skilled workers. To this very day the complete potential of a common table saw is  still very much unknown.   It's not about having the tools what you want...it's about wanting the tools you've got.  Most people don't realize that a common table saw can be transformed into an accurate and consistent duplication machine.  It can be very productive, and  the centerpiece of every shop.

Now the "Country market" ideas can eventually transform into
local manufacturing   HERE

Mascut...If you've got the ideas: here's the table saw device...

For those with a creative mind, push the envelope.  Do the unfashionable, don't
get profane, but develop everything,  and test the heck out of everything first.

A recent new study from the Boston College
Social Welfare Research Inst. 2008....estimates that Worldwide, over $40 trillion dollars (much of it in investments) will be transferred from all adults alive today to heirs, charities, taxes and other recipients.  And, according to some research groups, more of the U.S. fund and investment money will soon be going into investments that develop alternative ideas. They might be wanting to begin by using even more efficient methods and techniques for cutting back waste.  That doesn't necessarily mean more belt tightening, not necessarily less wages, but,  it will eventually mean more interest in basic, moderate, and advanced technology.   It means that many more amateurs  and  hobbyists need to become implementers and developers who apply the principles necessary to make things in volume.  Jigs?

A sort of "Secret Festival" of ideas in New York

Yep, it sounds absurd, and  labs multiplying master clones won't solve things in the economy either.  We need a larger gulp of antacids for sure. We don't have to make hourly trips to the tree of knowledge, but we do have to invent more, get investors and invent even more. For those making the decisions, calling the shots, and having an a creative mind, push the envelope.  Do the unfashionable, don't get profane, but develop and test the heck out of everything. Contact companies with new ideas. Go to the New York Javits center Licensing show, and buy a license to market 100's of possible products. The safest way to operate is to test new ideas. Hear all sides of every story.  Market testing helps  before setting a precedent with a new idea.

Here is a Fact about product development:

Dr. J. Haldane said that an important theory
has four stages of acceptance and this could also apply
to your new idea or development.

When we have a new idea or product, they will say:
1. This is probably a bunch of exaggeration...
2. This is an interesting, but absurd.
3. This is true, but quite unimportant.
4.  I always said so. The idea is beginning to work.

The goal is not to be impulsive, but to develop new, logical ideas and hopefully,
with good projecting ability reach step number four.

In seven years I have probably only built 25-30 Mascuts.  Everybody who
discovered the MASCUT between 2001-2008,  who came upon the story about this extraordinary device got theirs, and then kept quiet, probably quite proud of themselves for their distinction.  Most people have ordered the Minnie Cut, my other jig for box joints,  probably because I never got very affective in communicating and marketing the Mascut.   I have spent more time adding to this website, writing manuals and technical materials than anything else.  If you have a room full of idle, or less than productive woodworking machines, and you are interested in making things in volume,  you might want to know more about..... more

To strive to produce a surplus means be an implementer, and to
strive to understand jigs, basic measurement, and gauging.

A few people with the right system and determination really can undergo a development
and display an energy of which they were previously unaware of.  Read IMM.  Included
with the Mascut.

From George.....Woodjig.com

"Most people don't realize that a common table saw can be transformed into an accurate and
consistent duplication machine.  It can be very productive, and  the centerpiece of every shop."

More hobbyists need the experience to make things in volume. Think of
all the things that can be mass produced if there was more insight. Now there is.
Many shops are adorned with tools but need more, they need the
connections to follow through with producing a constant arrival of
products ideas and inventions.

Need an enterprising idea? Start small, and then who knows? Here are some suggestions where jigs can be of value.

You might want to invest in tools and especially in skills while the stock market irons out its problems. The stock market has employed millions, but it also has been putting many out of work recently. Hope it doesn't continue.   You might want to...

Start a small furniture company that specializes in crates, storage items, or unique, hard to find styles.
( Learn to use jigs for precision and to ensure accuracy and consistency.)

Grow trees.  Some varieties of poplar grows rocket fast.

Build toys, planters, boxes or even small furniture in volume to sell locally.

Grow something, or even start a small vineyard. (Learn to use jigs) and build the necessary boxes, tables, crates, wooden cases and fixtures or the accessories around the vineyard.)  Jigs are a part of many small enterprises.

Build wooden products or specialty products needed around a farm or around a shop, or hundreds of other businesses that need wooden gadgets, sorting and storage products.  There isn't enough time to list all of the things needed, or needing improvement.

Pump up the volume...

Having a precise operation in woodworking becomes really interesting
when many discover that most of the pleasure is in the
production mode.  It's not always "what is the best tool, or what is the cheapest tool, or where do I get that power tool."  Many know that precise volume is a much more interesting goal for those who really know machines and their full, accurate potential.  That is how manufacturing happens, one operation at a time.  Then when you are done with one operation, you set a target to finish the next.   With a precise jig, you follow through ensuring that there is little chance of missing the mark with any of the operations. With a Mascut, it becomes more like "making things on the fly."  You make a cut, turn it, maybe make another cut, and then drop it in the bucket or bin!  They get hooked and say "Why didn't I get one sooner."  It prevents  guessing, it sometimes solves merely buying more, shiny chrome or platinum tools, and maybe using a few precision tools to ensure accuracy.  The Mascut 1.0 is precise.

Awhile ago my friend and I were driving through the country and a guy was selling off all of his tools
out of his barn. This was the most beautiful shop I had ever seen.  He had an industrial Delta planer,
cabinet table saw, production shaper, production jointer, lathe,  mini lathe, and much, much more.
He probably had a hundred hand planes and tons of ready hardwood in beautifully organized
stalls; everything.  Our jaws were hanging down at the thought of this guy setting all this up over the
years just to retire and sell it all in a few hours.   We couldn't help but think of all the stuff he could
have been making had he known about jigs and duplication.

He used his shop to make lots of beautiful cabinets all over his house and shop.
He was very skilled at making  furniture for his deck and yard.  Most of his efforts were put into
this incredible barn-shop that was then completely sold off.  What a waste of effort!  To have
built the perfect shop and then never known it's true potential.  Starting out small, it
could have been a small furniture shop or supplier, a retirement business,
even craft training center for the area.  "Being in manufacturing for almost 30 years,
I couldn't help but think of all the stuff he could have been making
had he known a little more"

"Better measurement means better results"

After spending 10 Minutes with a MASCUT 1.0, you will know more about
duplication, techniques, accuracy, jigs and production than many woodshop
teachers and woodshop owners.  Of course, the ones who don't know,  need to look into it.
Both jigs are now filled with manuals, books, DVD, and unique insight galore.
